SendThisFile Tutorial: WARNING: Please note that I am not responsible for anything that could go wrong with this the process of uploading your files to the SendThisFile server. Please read their first page which talks about their security, which looks pretty good. Remember that nothing on the Internet is 100% secure. There is some personal information on your MRI images--your name and birthdate--that others might be able to view if they somehow (which I doubt) hacked into this server. |
YOUR MISSION: you are going to first upload your compressed MRI Disk (which we made in the first tutorial) to a place called "my files" which is within the website SendThisFile.com. Once you get it up there (i.e., have uploaded it), then you are going to send me notification that it is there and ready for me to download. The first thing we need to do is locate our compressed file we just made in part #1 of this tutorial, which is on the desktop--in this tutorial, the MRI Disk has been compressed into a file called "DICOM.". |
The first step this to go to the website www.sendthisfile.com, which looks like the image on the left. Then click on the "send files for free" button (red /white arrow). If you are concerned about security, click on the "play our video" button which explains how the site is set up.
Now, select the option "choose free plan (red arrow)." This option is a little slower, but it has no expiration date and it does not require the use of a credit card like the 15-day free trial does.
The next step is to create an account for the SendThisFile website: This part is pretty self-explanatory: simply enter in an e-mail address and create a password and click the register button (red arrow). *note: I would recommend using a junk e-mail for this process because more likely than not, you will probably get some spam. so go make yourself a new g-mail account for this registration process. Also, it has to be a real e-mail address because they are going to send you the final piece of verifying information at this address, so don't make something up. |
At this point, the company will send you a conformation e-mail to the e-mail address you have provided. So go check your e-mail right now (do not click the go to sign in because your count is not activated yet). |
In this tutorial I used a Gmail e-mail that I made up. As you can see, the registration/account verification e-mail from SendThisFile has arrived. Simply double-click it to open it up. |
This is what the registration/verification e-mail looks like. simply double-click the link (red arrow) and the registration/verification process is complete. You can now use your new SendThis File account. |
After clicking on the above link, you end up at SendThisFile's verification complete page. Now hit the "continue" button to proceed. |
Now its time to use your newly created login information: put in your e-mail and password and hit the continue button.
The website now tells you you have successfully logged in. Next, hit the continue button.
Now we are getting close to uploading the file. Double click the "Choose classic" option (red arrow).
Finally it is time to upload your MRI file: #1) type my e-mail address in the to box (red arrow): chirogeek@chirogeek.com. #2) you can right me a message if you want: Hii Dr. Gillard. This is a link to my MRI Disks per your request. #3) now its time to locate the compressed version of your MRI disk which we made in the first part of this tutorial. Hit the browse button (Green arrow) and find that file! |
After you hit the browse button, a file upload window will appear. Now all you do is navigate to the location of your compressed MRI files. In this example, my compressed MRI file (DICOM) were put in a folder called "test" on my desktop. Once I find it, I double-click on it or single click on it and hit open. |
You are now ready to go! All you do is hit the "send this file" button (orange arrow) and sit back and let things happen. It will take about 15 or 20 minutes to upload the file to their server. Once this happens, it automatically sends me a message and a link so I can download it. |
After about 20 minutes, this is what your screen will look like. Notice that the status says "complete" (orange arrow). You are now done as it has also sent me an e-mail telling me I may now download it. |
You can also see that the file has uploaded by going to "my files" (red arrow). If you want to send the link again or send a file to someone, all you do is double-click on it (green arrow) and follow the directions. |
After double-clicking, this box appears. You can enter my e-mail address and then click "click to send a copy of the original notification." You shouldn't have to do this extra step, however because I have already gotten the notice. I will e-mail you as soon as I download the file and make sure it is working; then, we can continue to set up the coaching session. |
